Release Day: November...

The big reveal is today! The new items for November will be available tonight at 10pm EST at Papertrey Ink. First, I've used Mat Stack 7 Basics and Holiday Thanks on this card.
When I saw the image in the Mat Stack 7, I immediately thought  of the Cover Plate: Hexagon die and that it would be a good match for this focal point, then I used the big hexagon as a snowflake with a Damask Snowflake in the background. A few mica flakes and some berries punched from Scarlet Jewel cardstock finish it off nicely.

Thank You for the Holiday Gift card:
(All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted.)
STAMPS: Holiday Thanks, Mat Stack 7 Basics
INK: True Black
PAPER: White, Scarlet Jewel, Aqua Mist
DIES: Cover Plate: Hexagon die, Mat Stack 7 dies
OTHER: hole punch, mica flakes.
______

Next up is A Cheerful Heart stamps and the new Floral Flaps dies. The Floral Flaps are really fun for creating your own cards that look like petal cards with 4 flaps that open up to reveal the inside (stamped with A Cheerful Heart).
Creating the card with the flaps is quite easy, you just cut 4 of the flaps and adhere them between 2 4x4" pieces of cardstock, scoring the flaps and folding them over. I made white flaps that are embossed and then I added 2 Aqua Mist flaps over the top that were cut.
To hold the card closed, I created a little white band of cardstock that you can slide off. The tag was made with the Cuppa Love dies (tag), and the little felt flower was cut with lovely layers. I snipped the flower and overlapped it to create a more dimensional look.

Praying For You card:
(All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted.)
STAMPS: A Cheerful Heart
INK: True Black, Pure Poppy; Soft Granite by Hero Arts
PAPER: White, Aqua Mist, Sweet Blush
DIES: Floral Flaps, Cuppa Love (tag)
OTHER: washi tape, twine, felt - Pure Poppy and Tropical Teal, pearl.
______

Next are the new Pompom Pals and Fair Isle Motifs stamps.
The Fair Isle Motifs were stamped in the background, and the reindeer from Pompom Pals was colored in and popped up with pop dots.
On the inside, I created a little pocket that folds over to hold money or a gift card and used "just for you" from Mat Stack 7 Basics.

Something Special card:
(All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted.)
STAMPS: Fair Isle Motifs, Pompom Pals, Mat Stack 7 Basics (just for you on inside)
INK: Pure Poppy, Dark Chocolate, Sweet Blush
PAPER: Sweet Blush cardstock, white, Pure Poppy Pattern Pack
DIES: none
OTHER: markers, corner rounder.
______

This is Phrase Play #10. I liked the saying in the stamp set, so I used it with some colorful cardstock strips and the Confetti Garland Borders stamps and dies. It's been awhile since I've done something so colorful.

Life Brings card:
(All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted.)
STAMPS: Phrase Play #10
INK: Tropical Teal, Raspberry Fizz, Summer Sunrise, New Leaf, Sweet Blush
PAPER: Tropical Teal, Raspberry Fizz, Summer Sunrise, New Leaf, Harvest Gold, Sweet Blush, White, Aqua Mist cardstock

Last is the new stamp set and die called Happy New Year and also Type Strips (celebrate).

With the new Type Strips stamps, you can now make your own letter stickers! How fun! I added some colorful cardstocks under the cut out triangles.

(All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted.)
STAMPS: Type Strips, Happy New Year
INK: Summer Sunrise, True Black by PTI; Soft Granite by Hero Arts

Introducing Cuppa Love...

Welcome back to another group post by Papertrey Ink! Today we are previewing a new stamp set and die called Cuppa Love! You are SURE to love these pretty patterns you'll see today. I know I do, can't wait to play with them more to create backgrounds and such.
The first card is unique in that I cut out the front of the card in the shape of the cup with the Cuppa Love die, and at the same time, embossed the back of the card. To do this, I folded the card in half and placed the die on top, just ABOVE the fold, so it won't cut on top of the fold.
What happens is it will cut the top piece out (the card front), but just emboss the bottom piece of cardstock (the back of your card). Sort of happened as a happy accident! Used the Cuppa Love stamps and dies to adorn the front of the card. Kept it simple, because when I looked up Fire King mugs, most of them were white with colorful flowers on the front center.
Here is the inside, stamped with Keep It Simple: Get Well.

The second card is simply embossed on the front with the cup die. To do this, I add a scrap piece of cardstock over my folded card and then run it through. It will cut the top cardstock out (scrap), but not the second piece underneath (your card front)! I made a pocket with the Cuppa Love die and stamped some of the florals on it from the set.
This is the stamping I did before assembling the second card. I decided to do the pocket after playing around with the stamps, so some of it was covered up. Cute just like that, isn't it? But you know me, I have to add, add, add...
Added the pocket and the little tag. I just adore this little card set, so cute!
Take Care/Feel Better Soon cards:
(All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted.)
STAMPS: Cuppa Love
INK: Tropical Teal, Pure Poppy, Simply Chartreuse, Sweet Blush inks
PAPER: white, Aqua Mist cardstock; Aqua Mist Pattern Pack
DIES: Cuppa Love
OTHER: twine.

Introducing Uncorked...

Today we are introducing the new Uncorked stamps, dies and the Uncorked Word Dies by Papertrey Ink, perfect for those upcoming parties you may be attending! First, I made a quick wine bottle tag.
The tag is cut with the Wine Bottle Tag die. Then I used the Uncorked stamps and the Keep It Simple: New Year stamps. "Cheers" is cut out with the Uncorked Word Dies.
The little dimensional star was made by cutting the new Small Sketched Stars from gold cardstock and layering them, offsetting the points in each star.
The gold twine was from Michaels, and it's wired, so you can actually tie it around the wine bottle and wrap the ends around a pencil to create the fun twirls in the twine. It will stay however you put it. Fun and festive!
Next is a card made with Uncorked and the Uncorked Word Dies again. I used the Wine Bottle Tag die again, but used it upside down and trimmed off the banner part. The polkadots are stamped with Polka Dot Basics III in the background.
Quick and easy.
Also, if you want to dress up the inside of the card for a December birthday, you could do something like this with the new Birthday Classics: December stamps. Today's post would go really well with THIS little card set that I made previously! :)

Cheers Wine Bottle Tag:

Monthly Moments: November...

Today I'd like to share with you the newest Monthly Moments collection for November, which will be available on Nov. 15th at 10pm EST at Papertrey Ink. Evidently, I jumped the gun making a "thankful" mini album last time, because this month's kit was perfect for scrapping family, food, and thankfulness! So here is another one, just an album filled with photos from last Thanksgiving.
As I looked through the journal cards, stamps and dies, I knew immediately what I wanted to do with them. Last Thanksgiving, my side of the family and my grandmother came to visit, and it was our first Thanksgiving together in 13 years. We all got together and took some family photos up by Daniel's Park here in Colorado, so I put together a little book of photos to give to my mom when she comes this year. I used the new tag die, Monthly Moments: Journal Card 6 to trim the journal cards and some of the photos. I used the stamp set on some of these also before I started putting it all together. Also incorporated a few other dies by Papertrey Ink, which I'll list in the supplies.
Here is the first inside page, just a kraft tag stamped with the Monthly Moments: November stamps.
Another super quick page, stamped with the stamps again. I cut a cork heart from the Tremendous Tags dies.  I didn't add journaling to my book yet...wasn't sure if I wanted to write in it from my perspective, since I wanted to give it away to my mom.
Pic of my mom and dad... cut with the same tag die as above, trimmed from 4x6" photos.
This "Give Thanks" paper from the Journal Card Collection was so cute, had to use it. It's larger than some of the others I used (others were cut in half), but I think adding different sizes into the book makes it more interesting. I added washi tape, a felt heart cut with Tremendous Tags dies, little paper clip and a pearl.
Even though the pictures didn't exactly match the papers (with the pink in our scarves), I decided to use them in color anyway. I don't think anyone will mind when they look at these 10 years from now! It's fun to see them in color rather than black and white, don't you agree? Too often I see black and white pics being used. This is my mom and dad in the middle, my brother and his family on the left, and me and my family on the right.
The leaves were cut with Leave It Be with some burlap, cut the "November" with the Monthly Moments: November die and added some stamping and washi tape. The washi tapes are fabric ones from Michaels..so in love with them!
Picture of my mother and her mother... it was vest and scarf season. :)
Here is a picture of me, my hubby and 2 girls. Funny to see this now, as my girls have slimmed down a lot since last Thanksgiving!  I cut a Wonderful Words: Together die and stapled it onto the pic, added more washi tape and another cork heart.
"Gobble, gobble" stamped tag for journaling...
Photo of my girls...
Little bit of layering of journaling cards and tags, and another felt piece cut with Tremendous Tags.
There are more pics, but I will spare you! :) Anyway, you get the gist of the cute journal cards and stamps, I hope. I'll be back tomorrow with more projects!

Thankful, Family Traditions Mini Album:

A card tutorial: embossing over stamping...

I'm up at Gossamer Blue today with a tutorial on how to dry emboss your cards over the top of stamping or rub ons like I've done here! I've used the November kits on this card. First, I stamped the sentiment from the Heidi Swapp stamps, "The Best is Yet to Come".
Next, I cut out some of the gold floral rub-ons from the Open Book rub-ons and applied them with my stylus. These rub on like butter! Love them. You'll be seeing a lot more from me with these rub ons, as I'm currently working on a class with the Open Book line by Maggie Holmes. (Online class with me coming in January!)
Here you can see I've added a few more of the floral rub ons to the upper right corner, and a rub-on dotted line under the sentiment. Next, I'll be running this through my Cuttlebug Swiss Dot embossing folder.
Place the card front into the embossing folder and run it through your die cutting/embossing machine. I use the Cuttlebug.
Last, I added the card front to a white card base, dressed up my envelope with paper in the kit cutting it with the Envelope Liner die by Papertrey Ink, and added a few wooden hearts.
Would be a wonderful card for a wedding, graduation, etc.

Swing by the Gossamer Blue blog if you haven't lately. Such a great blog, love all of the beautiful projects the gals come up with!!

It's a card party!

(If you are looking for the 25 Days of Christmas tags, see post below!)

Last night I held a card party at my house for the moms in our neighborhood moms group. We get together once a month and usually go out to dinner, but I had an idea to have a potluck at my house and do some holiday card making with them! So I put on the holiday music (Netflix has a "Fireplace For Your Home" show you can watch on TV that plays holiday music), got out the Christmas wine glasses and had so much fun teaching these cards!
Wasn't sure if they had all stamped before, so I cut out most of the supplies ahead of time and made a kit for each person (each card had all its supplies in one baggie, so it was easy to find in the kit!). This way, I thought it would make things go faster. I included a Phrase Play #8 stamp set and die in their kits to take home, so they could make more things with it later!
The first card above uses an older dotted Cuttlebug folder to emboss the background, then the joy frame is cut out with white cardstock and another with red, offsetting it for a fun layered look.  The holly was die cut with the Holly Jolly die set.
The second card uses a gold joy die cut from gold foil sticky backed paper, and we added mica flakes onto a Damask Snowflake.
Then we had a little halftime break. :)

During the break, I asked them to choose a paper color for the joy on card #3 below, the chalkboard tag card, so they could customize it to their own personal favorite colors. I had them try out the Cuttlebug during the break and cut the "joy" out themselves. This one was their favorite card! We stamped the background with Polkadot Basics #3, cut the tag from Tag Sale #4 and did a chalkboard technique on the tag.
Last is a card with a stamped and embossed snowflake background, done with Peace Be Still. We added the Pure Poppy joy die cut and a sentiment.
(EDITED TO ADD: kits are now sold out. Thank you!) There are two kits left if anyone is interested in a kit. $20 plus shipping, will send them to the first two who email me and pay! dflanders71@hotmail.com. Most of the supplies have been cut out already, but you do get the Phrase Play #8 stamps and dies in the kit, plus the little extras I used on these cards.
Hope you are having a great weekend!
